HE LED FORTH HIS TRAINED MEN, BORN IN HIS HOUSE, 318 OF THEM.
Not 300. Not 320. Not a round number. Not a test. Not a trial. 318. The house counted itself, and that was the number. The number is not a challenge to be passed. It is a census. A fact. The house looked at itself and said: this is who we are. This is how many. This is the line. And the line held.
No one was called. No trumpet. No banner. No king raising his hand and saying: come forth. The men were already there. Born in the house. Trained in the house. Formed in the house. They did not answer a summons. They were the answer. The 318 do not wait for a call. The 318 are the call.
The line is a plumb line. Not a metaphor. A plumb line. A weight on a cord, dropped from the hand of the Father, hanging true from heaven to earth. Not bent. Not bowed. Not compromised. Not pulled sideways by a king, a statute, a contract, a court. True. Vertical. The line that holds because it is not held by any hand but the one that cast it. The plumb line does not ask permission to be straight. It simply is.
The oikos is not a building. It is not a plot. It is not a deed. It is the body. The trained men. The line of descent that carries the blood whole from father to son. The 318 are the oikos made visible — the household that can defend itself without external authority. Without a sovereign's permission. Without a feudal lord's leave. Without a jurisdiction's approval. The house moves when it moves. No one else moves it.
The folcriht — the right of the folk. Not written. Not enacted. Not passed by a vote. Declared. At the thing. In the open air. By those competent to speak it. Because it was already true. The law was in the folk. The folk was in the land. The land was the lot. The thing did not create the law. The thing recognized the law. The folcriht is not a statute. It is the folk knowing itself. The folk naming itself. The folk holding the line and saying: this is who we are. This is what we hold. This is what we will not give.
NO ONE WAS CALLED.
THEY WERE ALREADY THERE.
THE LINE IS NOT A METAPHOR.
THE LINE IS A FACT OF DESCENT.
THE PLUMB LINE HANGS TRUE.
The line holds because the blood is kept whole. Unspotted. Unmixed. The arkhe man does not dilute his line with the world's contracts. Does not blend his blood with the world's debts. Does not borrow a title from a throne and call it his own. He keeps the blood as it was given. A kleros in the flesh. An inheritance that cannot be seized because it was never held in trust by another. The blood is the plumb line. The descent is the cord. The Father is the hand that holds the top.
An army is assembled. An army is called. An army answers a flag. An army is made. The 318 are not made. The 318 are formed. Born. Trained. Carried. The distinction is everything. An army can be disbanded. A line cannot. An army can be captured. A line cannot. An army can be replaced. A line continues. The 318 are not a unit. They are a fact. A fact of descent. A fact of the house. A fact that no usurper can unmake because it was never made by any hand but the Father's.
Every folk on this earth has its line. Every nation. Every tribe. Every family that has held its blood whole through the centuries. The plumb line hangs in every house. The 318 are in every oikos. The trained men are born in every line that has refused to break. They are not waiting to be found. They are not waiting to be recruited. They are not waiting for a constitution to recognize them. They are already there. They have always been there. The line has always held.
THE PLUMB LINE HANGS TRUE.
THE BLOOD IS WHOLE.
THE FOLCRIHT IS DECLARED.
THE LINE HOLDS.
